Disc Golfers must sign up for the GNWPS through Disc Golf Scene in order to accumulate points. Season passes cost $40. Registration for the Point Series will close at the conclusion of the 11th event of the series.
All divisions will be offered in the Great Northwest Point Series. Every division with at least two qualifying participants will be offered at the final event. Once a disc golfer has registered for a division, they are not allowed to change divisions. All divisions excluding MA2, FA2, MA3, FA3 and Jr divisions will play for cash prizes. Divisions excluded from cash payout will be awarded scrip at their favorite local disc golf retailer.
If you signed up for a division in GNWPS and it is not offered in a tournament you will still earn points.
Example 1 : Player is MA3 with GNWPS, they will sign up for MA2, the next immediate division higher. They will earn points competing against other MA3 players playing MA2
Example 2: Player is MA60 with GNWPS, they will sign up for MA55, or the next immediate division higher. They will earn points competing against other MA60 players playing MA55. Age protected division should stay in age protected fields or make sure the layout they are playing is the same as the age protected field.
Scoring
First place points for all B-tiers will top out at 100 and A tiers will top out at 125. Last place within a division would be worth 10 points. 1st place will get 5 bonus points, 2nd will get 3 bonus points and 3rd 2 bonus points.
When an event has 4 or less Great Northwest Point Series participants in a division, a modified point system will be utilized.
To determine the points for divisions with more than 4 participants:
B-tiers:
100 – {[(100-10) / Total participants in division] x places below first}
Add bonus points if applicable.
A-tiers
125 – {[(125-10) / Total participants in division] x places below first}
Add bonus points if applicable.
Example: Asher plays in the Spring Open (B-tier). There are 17 other divisional participants playing in the event. Asher placed 3rd in the division.
100-10 = 90
90 / 18 = 5 x 2 (two places below 1st)
100 - 10 = 90 + 2 bonus points for third place.
92 points earned
If an event has 4 or less the points will be awarded as follow for a B-tier:
Number of Players In division Points
1 105
2 85
3 65
4 45
If an event has 4 or less the points will be awarded as follow for an A-tier:
Number of Players in division Points
1 130
2 105
3 85
4 65
Participants must register and start five events to be eligible for the Great Northwest Point Series. The contestant’s top five finishes in the regular season will determine their qualifying total and stroke advantage for the Great Northwest finals. Lower scoring events will not be counted.
If a player chooses to play in a division that is not the same as their chosen point series division, the course played at the tournament must be same as their chosen division. If it is not, they will earn last place points.
